2. Elephanta Caves

  • Famous for : The Elephanta Caves are located on a small island in Western India dotted with numerous ancient archaeological remains that depict its rich cultural past. The architecture and forested area of Elephanta Caves have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Sites, since 1987. It contains a collection of rock art linked to the cult Shiva.
  • Timings : All days open except Monday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.
  • Tickets : For indians Rs 40 , For foreigners Rs 600 and free for the children below 15 years.
  • Best time to visit : Best time to visit elephanta caves will be the winter months i.e  November to February. Visit in day time and avoid visiting in monsoon season.
  • How to reach : The first ferry leaves the Gateway of India jetty at 09:00 am and takes you to the Elephanta Island in about an hour. A ferry leaves every half hour from the Gateway of India for Elephanta, with the last one leaving at 02:00 pm.

3. Shree Siddhivinayak Temple

4. Marine Drive

  • Famous for : The marine drive is about 3-4 km long. It starts from Nariman point at south end and ends at Chowpatty at north. Marine Drive is also known as the Queen’s Necklace because, when viewed at night from an elevated point anywhere along the drive, the street lights resemble a string of pearls in a necklace.
  • Best time to visit : Best time to visit marine drive is in the morning or in the evening. In night it looks more beautiful when the street lights on.
